I am honored to announce that SoundChick was selected to be an artist for DuPage Children’s Museums The M.A.S.K Project, Math, Art & Science for Kids, 100 Mask Auction of masks that have been designed by professional artists. Many of these masks will be autographed by leading celebrities in entertainment, sports, books and media, government, and many other categories! The M.A.S.K. Project is designed to raise public awareness of how art education helps develop the young brain for a lifetime of learning. The Museum helps fill the urgent gap in school Arts. I received a ceramic-signed mask from Chicago’s own, model, actress, author, activist, and game show host, celebrity Jenny McCarthy.

I have been asked to design Mardis Gras themed masks; however I never imagined my feather artistry would push my creativity to the limits for such a prestigious project for such a worthy cause. My mind flooded with many faces of feathers when I first glanced at the Mask. I produced several sketches and I sourced many breeds of feathers.

The final project in my head manifested a modern day feathered interpretation of a Victorian mask on an ambiguous face with feathered eyes. To create the look I used two variations of peacock feathers and beautiful variations of pheasant feathers. Companies and Individuals will be invited to sponsor 100 masks to be auctioned online for The Mask Project for 6 weeks. The M.A.S.K Project Gala will culminate in a spectacular event with entertainment in Naperville, IL in April. The M.A.S.K Project auction is based on the highly successful community event of the Denver Hospice in Colorado.
