Chicago School of Shoe Making

Chicago School of Shoe Making

This Winter I had the absolute pleasure of taking the Leatherwork 101 class at the Chicago School of Shoe making with Master Cobbler of over 35 years, Sara McIntosh. Described in our culture as a lost art, The Chicago School of Shoemaking is a new school for an old craft. They are passionate about passing on the delight and excitement of an unusual skill.

The class fees include materials, hardware and use tools needed to design your selected project in her eccentric Logan Park Chicago Cobbler Studio. I experienced pure joy in the Leather Work 101 Class. In this class Sara patiently and graciously shares solid introductions to leather work in two hours. Small class sizes with no more than 5 students allows for personalized attention.

In the given time frame, at my choice I designed a stylish functional leather clutch/handbag with riveting designs and a snap. I love my finished product: however it won’t be just perfect until I add some of my signature Feather Flair! Stay tuned to SoundChick Accessories Blog to see the finished project!  For more information on The Chicago School of Shoe Making visit: www.chicagoschoolofshoemaking.com
