SoundChick is excited to introduce to some and Re-Introduce to others the very talented Maimouna Youssef aka Mumu Fresh. In December of 2013, I met the beautiful spirited Mumu Fresh in Los Angeles while she was singing background with Chicago Native Hip Hop Artist Common for a couple of year end shows. Mumu’s style was indeed oh yes, so fresh, her accessories were gorgeous and everything about her emitted positive vibes. Mumu Fresh’s performance blew me away as her smooth, full and smokey vocals were the perfect fit to accompany Common’s show. Overall Mumu’s voice, personality and style blended in so well with Common’s musical set.

Maimouna Youssef aka “Mumu Fresh” is a Grammy nominated seasoned singer, emcee, songwriter and producer. She received a Grammy nomination for her contribution on the Roots hit “Don’t Feel Right” in 2007 for best rap song and has since taken off as an independent artist.

Mumu Fresh released a New Mix-Tape appropriately titled The Reintroduction of Mumu Fresh Hosted by DJ Dummy. In this project Mumu takes a brilliant spin on some of pop cultures most played radio songs by adding her own lyrics which are real, humorous, and rhyme-tastic.
